FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions by our customers. If you have a question that is not answered here or on our Troubleshooting page, please email us at contact@bodilydefense.com.

Q. How does a Stun Gun work?

A.  A Stun Gun is an electronic device that produces a high-voltage pulse that can immobilize a person for several minutes with no permanent damage. The voltage causes pain and affects the body's neurological system, which controls muscles function. The body's muscles will tighten, rendering your assailant unable to move most of their muscles. This gives you time to run and call for help.

Q. If I am touching the person that I am shocking, will I get shocked, too?

A. No. A Stun Gun works on volts, not amps. Volts will be absorbed into the body that it is touching and will not exit that body. Amps are what produce electrical power as in a wall socket or electrical fence. So unless you are touching the contacts on your Stun Gun, you will not feel any effects from it.

Q. Will a Stun Gun kill someone or give them a heart attack?

A.  A Stun Gun is non-lethal, meaning it is not made to kill. Anything, including your bare hand, can kill a person if not used correctly. The worst injury that we have heard reported from Stun Guns is injury from the fall when an assailant goes down. It has been reported that Tasers (electronic weapons that shoot probes at a target) have caused heart attacks and death. In nearly every case that we have heard of, the deceased was also under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which was the underlying cause of most of these deaths. So, used properly, Stun Guns will tempoarily disable, not kill.
